Psychotherapeutic Work
In more long-term psychotherapeutic work. I work with clients to gain a deeper understanding,
of any core unmet biopsychosocial or developmental needs. Core unmet needs, can be buried deep within,
re-surface, or be triggered in ways that adult reactions catch one by surprise.
The Inner Child never ceases to hope and long for its needs to be met.
Background
As a second-language speaker, with a background in Applied Linguistics,
I've come to deeply appreciate, the multifaceted layers, that shape individuals.
Today, you and I, are the tapestry that began at birth.
At birth, different threads began to weave the image of who you and I are today.
Each thread represents the intersection and formative effect of factors such as family, language, culture,
biology, socialization, generational patterns, opportunity, spirituality, and choice, just to name a few.
I endeavor to get to know the tapestry of each client's life, treading gently,
and attending with empathy, respect, and sensitivity.
Knots, messiness, and cross-threads can be seen from the back of tapestries.
This is where the real appreciation and understanding of the individual lies.
The complex intersecting of threads that came together to form the image of today.
Why do 'I' do this work?
It has felt that counseling has always been part of my DNA, not merely a profession but a way of being.
People's stories inspire me, teach me immensely, humble me, and enrich my understanding of the human spirit.
I learn something new from every client, always in awe of the courage it takes for some to tell their story.
Providing 'Hope' for clients and holding space for them to dare to see beyond the fog,
or, to dare to get back up yet again, is deeply meaningful for me.
" There are far better things ahead than any we leave behind."
